First-generation engineer building the systems millions depend on. Stevens Institute of Technology, completing a 4-year degree in 3. Columbia M.S. admit. Currently at Con Edison, NJ Transit, and MetLife Stadium.
When I was in middle school, my teacher Mr. Campbell made us write a paper about our future career. I wrote about being a computer engineer. I named the school I wanted to attend: Stevens Institute of Technology. I described the degree, the job, and the life I wanted to build.
I was the kid who fixed everything — phones, iPods, computers, even my teachers' broken laptops. My family called me "the fix-it guy." Sometimes people paid me. Mostly I just liked figuring things out.
I'm a first-generation college student and the son of Hispanic immigrants. Everything I've built sits on top of their work. There was no playbook for college applications, internships, or what to do when you're the only person in the room who looks like you. I learned by doing.
Today, I'm finishing my Stevens degree in 3 years instead of 4. I work at Con Edison on the systems that power 2 million New Yorkers. I keep NJ Transit's trains connected. I run IT at MetLife Stadium during NFL games and the World Cup. And in 2026, I'll start my M.S. at Columbia.
That kid in middle school called every shot. I'm just here to keep my word.
